Mickey’s story is the story of a man who has worked hard to do right by his family, and right by his faith in God.

He was the youngest of six children and worked on the family farm in the Calabria region of southern Italy.  Mickey and his family were all accustomed to working very hard.  Because it was difficult for the Pantano family to make ends meet, Mickey and some of his brothers left the farm as teenagers and moved to the northern part of Italy to find jobs.

Mickey spent his teens in Milano and Torino as a brick maker and factory worker, sending back as much as could be spared. As he entered adulthood, Mickey was drafted into the Italian Navy, serving his enlistment as a cook, where he first experienced the joy (and hard work) of preparing meals for his fellow servicemen. In 1968, at the age of 21, Mickey was thrilled to have the opportunity to immigrate to the U.S. with his parents and his brother.  He came to live in York, Pennsylvania where he began working for his cousin, Carlo, at Carlo's Pizza.  Carlo is the one who taught him how to make pizza.

After many years of hard work, and in an answer to a prayer, Mickey's Wholesale Pizza was established in York in 1993. The business began with Mickey, his wife Judy, and one employee. Those original three people were able to produce and deliver pizzas to the York Hospital, a school district, and a handful of other small businesses. Over the years, as a result of God’s guiding hand, the business has outgrown two manufacturing facilities in York and Red Lion, and is now operating in a new location in York, PA.

Mickey and Judy, along with their two sons, Carmine and Philip, and a wonderful team of employees, now proudly serve over 100 school districts and dozens of other facilities and businesses. And now, due to our recent expansion into retail stores, our pizzas are being enjoyed by families at home too! Mickey, the Pantano family, and our family of employees are excited to share our pizzas with you and your loved ones, and we thank you for the opportunity.
